We will be holding the NIMS Award Symposium 2026 on Tuesday, November 10.

This year’s theme is “Engineering the Future of Solid State Batteries.”

The NIMS Award recipients, Prof. Ryoji Kanno (Institute Professor, Institute of Science Tokyo) and Prof. Masahiro Tatsumisago (Executive Advisor, Osaka Metropolitan University) , who have revolutionized all-solid-state battery technology through the development of solid electrolytes, will be speaking at the event.

In addition, seven experts from Japan and abroad will give presentations on the latest developments in the field.

Undergradute and graduate students, as well as industry professionals, are warmly welcome to attend!

Overview: All-solid-state batteries have attracted intensive research worldwide as a next-generation technology of energy storage because of their potential to provide enhanced safety and high energy density. This symposium will focus on the materials science that is key to realizing all-solid-state batteries, with emphasis on solid electrolytes, ion transport, and electrode–electrolyte interfaces, and will feature commemorative lectures by the recipients of the NIMS Award. In addition, presentations by leading researchers in the field will provide a comprehensive overview of the latest advances, from fundamental materials design to research and development for practical implementation and societal deployment. The symposium will serve as a forum to explore future directions and prospects for all-solid-state battery research.

A poster session will be held on the day of the NIMS Award Symposium.

We are pleased to invite researchers, students, and other participants working in relevant research fields to submit poster presentations.
